Laminoplasty Plate

A Laminoplasty Plate is a specialized medical device used in cervical laminoplasty surgery, a procedure aimed at decompressing the spinal cord in patients with cervical myelopathy, which is often caused by spinal stenosis or ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL). Laminoplasty is a motion-preserving alternative to laminectomy, where the laminae (the bony roof of the spinal canal) are partially cut and hinged open like a door to enlarge the spinal canal. The laminoplasty plate is used to secure the hinged lamina in its new, open position.
